Cody Rhodes injury update following Kevin Owens attack

Cody Rhodes defended his Undisputed WWE Championship against Kevin Owens at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. The Undisputed WWE Champion made his entrance with the Winged Eagle WWE Championship. Rhodes hit Owens with a Cross Rhodes onto the steel chair and picked up the pinfall victory. After the match, Owens hit a Package Piledriver on Rhodes and walked away with the Winged Eagle WWE Title. Rhodes was taken out of the arena in an ambulance.

WWE provided an update on the Undisputed WWE Champion. They stated that Rhodes has been diagnosed with axial compression of the cervical spine and a cervical strain with spasm.

"Earlier today it was confirmed that Cody Rhodes suffered cervical swelling and was kept overnight at a local hospital for observation. While X-Rays were negative for a fracture, Rhodes has been officially diagnosed with axial compression of the cervical spine, as well as a cervical strain with spasm."
